  • Villa Villa Cola “Getting Nowhere Faster” (2004)

In the past ten years the subculture of skateboarding has become a mainstream attraction receiving unprecedented attention. Yet somehow, niches of highly talented skaters intrinsically connected to the richness of the artform and its potential for creative expression have remained largely unknown. Getting Nowhere Faster, the new skateboard video project by the notorious Villa Villa Cola squadron, brings to light the elusive and mysterious underworld of female skateboarders and their craft.

This cinematic pearl features peril & sass by the following experts: Vanessa Torres, Amy Caron, Elizabeth Nitu, Nugget, Faye Jaime, Alex White, Patiane Freitas, Stefanie Thomas, Lauren Mollica, Van Nguyen, Lauren Perkins, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins, Cara Beth Burnside, amongst many other shred getters.

This project features skateboarding never seen at a level such as this before-it’s a brand new recipe- with a dash of the following ingredients: a villianous cupcake, a motorcycle gang, an invisible cosmetic predator, a cowboy, and a fantasy skatepark called Tiffanyland.

Made entirely by female skateboarders, Getting Nowhere Faster is an authentic portrayal of these skaters and their unbridled talent and creativity. This project undoubtedly has the potential to be a landmark in skateboarding history.

Presented by Element Skateboards, produced and distributed by 411VM.

Naturally she is lead towards unconventional holistic care as part of her chosen path of healing despite the advice of Western doctors and the controversy that ensues.

Megan remains steadfast in her beliefs; yet, following the tragic death of her brother-in-law, she begins to question her own mortality and this new sense of normal as a mother, wife, sister, and survivor.

  • Message from B4BC Ambassador Kimmy Fasani and husband Chris Benchetler:

We all have a story and we want this night to be about sharing and connecting on an “It’s Personal” basis. Chris and I met in 2003 and were married in 2011. It was losing both of our dads to cancer separately that actually brought us together.

Unfortunately, cancer has been a big part of Chris and my family for the past 14 years. My dad passed away to lung cancer in 1999, my uncle in 2005, and my mom is living with Non-Hodgkins Follicular Lymphoma. Chris’s dad passed away in 2003 from lung cancer, and his grandma passed away to lung cancer in 2007.

We want to create a community within our industry for people to share their stories, find comfort, become educated and aware about cancer. Together with B4BC and Mammoth Mountain we are hoping to inspire youth to get involved and stay involved with snowboarding and skiing, while also educating on ways to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

  • Leanne Pelosi has long been a person that has expanded the definition of “women’s snowboarding”, expounding on what this phrase means in the dialect of current context both in the streets and in the mountains. This past season, Leanne stacked footage across the globe with fellow boarders that contribute to shaping the way that riding is regarded. In her new series, Vision Airs, Leanne shares this footage and in the first episodes, takes on pillows in BC with Marie-France Roy.

Vision Airs web series is about Leanne Pelosi riding with snowboarders who have a capability to see beyond their current reality. These ‘vision airs’ exude creativity and style. Inspired through infectious energy.
