Last weekend marked Skate Like a Girl’s 8th Annual Wheels of Fortune (WOF) in surprisingly sunny Seattle, Washington. Over 100 skaters participated in multiple weekend activities, hailing from all over the world, representing Canada, Columbia, Russia, U.K., USA, Spain, France, and more!
Friday kicked things off with MAHFIA.tv’s Girlz Nite Out Welcome Party, which boasted a female skate art show put together by Luna Malia and Tori Williams, screening of Quit Your Day Job + other trailers from New England Female Skateboarding, The Skate Witches, and Broe Squad, Zine 8 release from The Skate Witches, and a stacked raffle! Big up’s to evo for hosting, and Humm Kombucha, PBR, and Blazing Bagels for fueling up our attendees.
Saturday started off with some skate yoga from Chad Yee, followed by a Brunch and Skate session with refreshments from Chipotle and Drip City Coffee. At 1pm all skaters were gathered in a giant circle to announce this year’s Queen of the Road scavenger hunt challenges. Once teams were formed, skaters hit the streets and parks to stack clips and cause a ruckus! Be sure to check the #wof8qotr hashtag to catch a glimpse of the action! QOTR wrapped up with a Sizzle Pie pizza party at All Together Skate Park, where skaters watched clips and Team Veryflex, featuring Alec and Amelia of Tony Hawk Foundation, were crowned as victors! Shortly after, skaters gathered under the lights at Cal Anderson Park tennis court for the 1st annual NotSh*T Junk Jam to show off their maneuvers, and lack thereof, for fun and prizes from Unity Skateboards, Ancient Medicine, and Not Sh*t Zine. Thanks to 35th and Ancient Medicine Skateboards for hooking it up with multiple skate features!
